Consciously Rebuilding: Glass Recycling Drive #2

I am super excited to report that despite being rained out, 2 people came out to the Sankofa Marketplace to bring me glass goodies. I must have over 200 bottles---way more than last time. "I"ccessorize will launch their eco-friendly line in July 2009 and if this is successful, Consciously Rebuilding will officially launch the arts program fall 2009.

Until then.....save your glass and bring it to Sankofa (St.Claude and Caffin) on the 2nd Saturdays of the month.

The Conscious Mission

Consciously Rebuilding provides a community development service to addresses the health, social, and environmental dynamics of post-Katrina New Orleans through education and experiential learning. We promote conscious incremental lifestyle changes that mature into holistic individual, community, and environmental health. We educate marginalized populations that have been traditionally untapped by the “Green” Movement by translating the principles of “green” into priorities of financial capacity and health.

Who We Are

After earning their Masters in Public Health from Tulane SPH, Yasmin Bowers and Andrea Floyd teamed up to rebuild New Orleans. Consciously Rebuilding was created to provide services that address environmental, social, economical and infrastructural elements of building and rebuilding in a post-disaster region.

In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, our experiences in a post-disaster region exposed the parallelism of environmental, social, and economic issues shared by other regions.

The communities we hope to serve starts with you. We will help communities that do not have a voice but a vision. This burgeoning vision will flourish through collaborative efforts and our passion for change.
