Ok, so I've been a little spacey over the past month. Basically my life has been work, work, work, some play, and work. We're working hard on the recycled glass jewelry line so send prayers, positive thoughts, and wishful thinking this way.

With that said on Saturday, May 23, 2009 I attended the Bayou Boogaloo. I enjoyed the hot sun, the sounds of Soul Rebels (my favorite brass band) and discovered a very eco-firendly and socially responsible "New Orleans Craft Mafia." A group of artists and dressmakers are empowering/encouraging/teaching people how to transform tshirts into dresses, purses, and halter tops. I knew I wanted one of these so I approached the booth and started cutting, sewing, and tying a very cool halter. I must admit that this is my new favorite shirt. The Conscious Mission

Consciously Rebuilding provides a community development service to addresses the health, social, and environmental dynamics of post-Katrina New Orleans through education and experiential learning. We promote conscious incremental lifestyle changes that mature into holistic individual, community, and environmental health. We educate marginalized populations that have been traditionally untapped by the “Green” Movement by translating the principles of “green” into priorities of financial capacity and health.

Who We Are

After earning their Masters in Public Health from Tulane SPH, Yasmin Bowers and Andrea Floyd teamed up to rebuild New Orleans. Consciously Rebuilding was created to provide services that address environmental, social, economical and infrastructural elements of building and rebuilding in a post-disaster region.

In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, our experiences in a post-disaster region exposed the parallelism of environmental, social, and economic issues shared by other regions.

The communities we hope to serve starts with you. We will help communities that do not have a voice but a vision. This burgeoning vision will flourish through collaborative efforts and our passion for change.
